Prost München!

I took a trip to Munich, Germany one weekend early in February and I'll be completely honest -- the reason for this trip was so I could visit Dachau Concentration Camp, about 30 minutes outside of Munich (not to see Munich itself!). Ever since my family visited the Holocaust Museum in Washington D.C. a few summers ago, I knew that I wanted to stop at a concentration camp site at some point in my life. Of course, this would mean I'd have to take a trip to Germany first so when I found out I'd be studying in the Netherlands for 4.5 months, this was an automatic must-do for me!

Dachau Concentration Camp was everything I imagined and more. It was eerie, disturbing, and serves as a learning experience for us all. Since I was visiting Dachau, I planned some time in Munich as well and I was so impressed and surprised with this charming city! Beers and pretzels bigger than your head, friendly people, and ginormous, beautifully designed buildings, I would recommend a weekend in Munich to anyone.
